Career Advancement: Cassidy from The Renaissance
How long have you been at The Renaissance and why did you apply?
I have been at the Renaissance Assisted Living in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho since November 11, 2020. I applied to work at this facility because the previous Executive Director was once a coworker of mine, and I knew that she had a good heart, so I was excited to have the opportunity to make a positive change in our residents’ lives.
How did you pursue your advancement in position?
My previous supervisor encouraged me to pursue advancement and I was ready to take on more responsibility and ready to try new things with our residents!
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
At first, my sweet dog Stella, but ultimately my responsibility to our residents is always a huge encouragement to get me going with my day.
What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?
My biggest personal achievement would be that I am completely independent and have always worked very hard to stay on track with my own goals. My professional achievement would be that I became a Director at age 22, and I am having success with my position thus far.
What advice would you give to recent new team members?
Always remember patience and compassion, it will get you far!
What is your motto or personal mantra?
Always do the right thing, even when no one is looking.
If you could change one thing about working here, what would it be?
Like most places, through the pandemic, we have struggled with having enough staff. I hope to see that we have more workers who are excited and compassionate about resident care.
What do you like most about your job?
Being able to provide the residents with something to look forward to every day.
What three words would you use to describe your role?
Fulfilling, rewarding, and fun!
What is on your wish list for your next five years here?
My "wish list" or goals include developing new ideas and techniques to implement activities in assisted living and memory care, working with directors from other communities to share ideas, and learning how to successfully lead a team with positive energy.
