Caregiving & Dining Services Recognized in Radiant Senior Living’s Employees of the Year Awards

Years of service, dedication, and passion for care were traits shared by both winners of the 2021 Radiant Senior Living Employees of the Year award. Each year Radiant Senior Living recognizes two employees from nominations submitted by Executive Directors at Radiant Senior Living locations. The 2021 winners were selected from the 18 nominations sent in from Radiant communities.

Nominated employees from areas such as caregiving, life enrichment, dining services, and maintenance are all examples of hard work, dedication, and a commitment to the Radiant Senior Living culture of caring. Deciding on the winners of the 2021 award was a difficult task this year!

The 2021 Employees of the Year are Porfi Soto, Caregiver at Farmington Square Tualatin and Margaret Tepovac, Dining Services Director at Farmington Square Medford.

Margaret Tepovac was the first employee at Farmington Square Medford, in 1989. For 33 years Margaret has cared for residents, worked multiple positions in the company, and cooked delicious and healthy meals. However, her nomination went beyond her dedication to her residents and focused on her commitment to her coworkers.

“What most of us do not know [about Margaret] is how huge her heart is and how she takes care of her coworkers at all times,” shared Executive Director of Farmington Square Medford, Dora Howard.

“A caregiver was struggling with transportation; Margaret purchased a new car and gave the caregiver her old car for very small monthly payments. A manager needed an alternator for her car, Margaret bought the alternator and paid to have it installed.  Margaret saw that a MedTech had really bad tires on her car, Margaret bought new tires and paid to have them put on.  Margaret saw an employee’s child in a thin jacket during the recent snowstorm we had, and she purchased a winter jacket for the child.  She donates PTO to staff that need it,” continues Howard.

“Margaret is never asked, nor does she ever say anything about her decisions.  She watches, listens, observes ‘her family’ and acts with kindness when she can.”

Porfi Soto has worked at Farmington Square Tualatin since 2005. In her 17 years, she has continually been a reliable, dedicated team member who puts the needs of her residents first and with a positive attitude.

Pofi works the Swing and NOC (overnight) shifts at her community. She frequently picks up shifts when needed, always willing to help her coworkers and management team. She has excellent work attendance and is always on time for her shifts. She has also provided care for a loved one at home throughout her time while still maintaining a positive attitude.

“Porfi is the definition of living Radiantly, and we are beyond blessed to have her on our team,” shared Executive Director at Farmington Square Tualatin, Tawnya Theodore.
